This actress with a military background did not have Bollywood in her mind at all. Instead she wanted to dominate the ramps. But don’t we all love what destiny has done to her?
Anushka Sharma kick started her acting career in Aditya Chopra’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi as the leading lady to none other than Shahrukh Khan. Now it definitely takes more than luck to share the screen space with King Khan himself under the Yash Raj banner in the very first film to appear in. Consequently she was seen in two Yash Raj movies, Badmaash Company opposite Shahid Kapoor and Band Baaja Baaraat along with newcomer Ranveer Singh, the latter proving to be very important in shaping her career. In fact the actress herself refers to the movie as one of her best until then and apart from a nomination at the Filmfare in the ‘Best Actress’ category, her role in the movie earned her very many awards and she firmly established herself in the industry. Following the grand success of Band Baaja Baaraat, she was seen in Nikhil Advani directed Patiala House and Ladies vs. Ricky Bahl, another Yash Raj production. No matter how the films fared at the box office, her performances were always appreciated, both commercially and critically with film critic Taran Adarsh stating her acting as ‘wonderful’ and ‘energetic’ more than once. She was also seen in a supporting role in the legendary Yash Chopra’s last directorial venture, Jab Tak Hai Jaan alongside Katrina Kaif and Shahrukh Khan. With film critic, Taran Adarsh quoting “her role was full of mettle”, it also won her the Filmfare for the Best Supporting Actress. Last seen in Vishal Bharadwaj’s Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola opposite, the lead actor Imran Khan along with pros like Pankaj Kapur and Shabana Azmi, she’ll be seen alongside Ranbir Kapoor in Anurag Kashyap’s next directorial venture Bombay Velvet.
Although she made it big in Bollywood, her figure or her attitude hasn’t lost the touch of the model she was. The girl who walked the ramps first at fifteen years of age and went on to walk the ramp for Wendell Rodricks has still got it in her. She is generally seen sporting western wears, bikinis and shorts in her movies but Sharma has been seen draped in the coveted Indian attire in many public appearances. With the demure look, bright smile, desirable height and the even more desirable figure, Anushka Sharma in a saree does complete justice to it. She looked a diva from all directions when she sported a red and black saree at the 2013 Star Guild Awards, not to forget the hot blouse that spiced up her look even further. Anushka’s million dollar look at the Apsara Awards, draped in a Sabyasachi Mukherjee creation was a hot topic of discussion in the media. Draped in the beautiful saree with resham, sequins, patch work and the charming velvet pallu, Sharma couldn’t have looked better! The model turned actress has also been seen sporting the elegant Indian attire in the ramps more than once. Click here for more photos of Anushka Sharma wearing a Saree.
While the actress looks ravishing in bikinis and western wears, we would definitely like to see Anushka sporting the coveted six yards more often.
